Talking word processor software is a
resource used by students that provides speech so students can hear letters,
words, sentences, or paragraphs as they type. This software allows students to
correct spelling and grammar mistakes. Any class material such as tests and
worksheets can be uploaded to the software and read aloud to the students. This
AT resource benefits students with learning disabilities in reading or low
level readers. Some talking word processor software products available in
schools are Write:Outloud, Intellitalk 3, and Wordtalk. The resource I would
use in my classroom would be Wordtalk because it can be used in conjunction
with Microsoft word. Since I have a digital copy of my course materials, my
students will be able to open up the documents and Wordtalk will read the
directions and problems to them. The video I have provided explains the basics of Wordtalk in a Microsoft word document. Take a look!
