Word prediction software can help
students while using the computer by predicting the words the student is
typing. This assistive technology benefits students who struggle with writing
to use appropriate spelling and word choices, English language learners, and
students who have fine motor challenges. Word prediction helps students
formulate their thoughts while writing instead of losing their thought while
trying to write it out on paper. In addition to writing, this AT supports
reading while reading the words on the screen. Some word prediction software products
found in schools are: Aurora Suite, Co: Writer SOLO, Speak Q. The resource most
appropriate for my students in 7th grade would be cowriter, because
they can integrate this word prediction software from the computers we have in
the library to the Ipads we have available for classrooms.
